Phu Quy Lighthouse and Cam Mountain: Access Guide

🏝️ Part of the Phu Quy travel guide · Updated 15 October 2026.

Phu Quy Lighthouse stands on Cam Mountain, a high point overlooking the island and surrounding sea. The Lam Dong tourism portal lists Cam Mountain at 108 m and about 3 km west of the port, with more than 120 stone steps on the ascent. These figures help you picture the walk but do not replace a check of current access.

1. Confirm access first

Before your visit, ask your accommodation or a local contact whether visitors may enter the lighthouse area, when access is allowed and what photography rules apply. It is a working maritime facility; do not assume operational areas are open to the public.

The provincial tourism page describes the light as a navigational aid. Stop at the permitted area if you see a restriction sign or staff ask you to do so.

2. Prepare for the climb

Consider your group’s fitness before choosing this stop. Wear grippy shoes, bring water and avoid the ascent if rain makes the steps slippery or the heat is intense. Stay on the designated route, do not climb the structure and do not obstruct staff.

Older visitors and anyone with heart or knee conditions should consider the steps and arrange assistance. If you feel dizzy or tired, rest and turn back if necessary.

3. Combine it with nearby stops

The lighthouse may fit into a western-island route if the road and access hours work for your day. Avoid squeezing too many distant stops into a short window. See our guide to Cao Cat and Linh Son Pagoda and the island itinerary.
